Georgina Sight Initiative
Georgina Sight Initiative (GSI) is a non-profit organization set up with the object to provide eye care services to underserved and low income communities in Uganda. It pursues this object through provision of eye care services in surgical eye camps, and through support for the training of eye care professionals.
Georgina Sight Initiative provides financial aid for patients who cannot afford cost of some eye treatments. It also supports surgical eye camps in towns across the country where surgeries are offered to patients free of charge. Georgina Sight Initiative seeks donations and grants from local and foreign donors to support its activities. Since 2015, over 2000 patients have been treated at camps in Lira, Masaka, Kabale and Kampala.
Georgina Sight Initiative is also involved in arranging training opportunities for eye care professionals. It collaborates with universities and international ophthalmology organizations, and arranges exchange visits by eye surgeons to provide specialized training and learning. Georgina Eye Clinic has memorandums of understanding with universities and medical schools in Uganda to support the training of post-graduate students of Ophthalmology.
